Well, it's official.

It seems there will be no more no more high tea at the Palm Court at the Plaza Hotel.

*heavy sigh*

Edit: As scottso has pointed out, it says it will be offering afternoon tea, though none is listed in its schedule. So I imagine there is hope! Hurray!
