A meme ganked from
ladybarnard.
IF YOUR LIFE WAS A MOVIE, WHAT WOULD THE SOUNDTRACK BE?
So, here's how it works:
1. Open your library (iTunes, Winamp, Media Player, iPod, CD Player, etc)
2. Put it on shuffle
3. Press play
4. For every question, type the song that's playing
5. When you go to a new question, press the next button
6. Don't lie and try to pretend you're cool.
Opening Credits:
My Old School - Steely Dan. Not exactly an upbeat "wake up in the morning" type song, but hey, whatever. The piano in it rocks.
Waking Up:
Suspended in Time - Oliva Newton-John. Clearly, I did not want to wake up. Also clearly, I own the Xanadu soundtrack. It's hardly the most embarrassing thing in my collection.
First Day At School:
The Word of Your Body - Jonoathan Groff & Lea Michele, from Spring Awakening. OK, obviously I am getting it on at school, or something.
Falling In Love:
The Ghost of Your Walks - Richard Thompson. OK.
Fight Song:
Underwear - Dog on Fleas. I wonder who I am fighting with, as this is a song where a kid is complaining to his mom he needs new underwear. It would not be unheard of for me to fight with my mother, but let us just assume the "fight" is mere verbal sparring.
Breaking Up:
For Once in My Life - Tony Bennett & Steven Wonder. Uhhhh.... okay? (We got the Tony Bennett duets CD when we gave money to NPR on a lark one day. Not that we wouldn't normally give them money during pledge drive, but I mean, we gave it as a lark during the Tony Bennett segment cause they were playing his awesome duet with the Dixie Chicks. I wish it were a whole album of him and the Dixie Chicks.)
Prom:
The Rhythm of the Heat - Peter Gabriel. That is going to be one intense and probably pretty fucked-up prom. My actual prom? Insanely boring.
Life:
Love Me or Hate Me - Lady Sovereign. a) THIS is the most embarrassing thing in my collection. b) Not a good summary of my life or my general attitude. c) I blame our niece Jessica for me owning this.
Mental Breakdown:
End Credits (Broom Dance/Grr Argh) - Buffy Cast (except no one is singing). All I can say to this is 'huh'. Perhaps my mental breakdown includes cartoon zombies singing at me?
Driving:
K.C. Blues - Charlie Parker. Not my usual driving music, but hey! I'll take it.
Flashback:
Trio No. 3 in F I. Allegro - Mozart from - Rampal (flute), Stern (violin), Rostropovich (cello). Probably a flashback to something extremely peaceful
Wedding:
Run Away! - Christopher Sieber, David Hyde Pierce, Hank Azaria, Michael McGrath, Steve Rosen, Tim Curry & Ensemble (of Spamalot). This is even funnier than
ladybarnard's wedding music (The Muppets' "Can You Picture That?" - which I once danced with her to!).
Birth of Child:
Your revels cease! Assist me, all of you! - D'Oyly Carte Opera Company (Mikado, the inferior 70s production). My children were ACTUALLY born to Leonard Cohen and Loreena McKennit, but you have to admit this title is perfect.
Final Battle:
Everyone - Van Morrison. I guess it's going to be a BIG battle!
Death Scene:
With A Little Help From My Friends. Sounds like I get a happy drugged-out death?
Funeral Song:
Old Friend - Lyle Lovett (from the Deadwood soundtrack). Awww.
End Credit:
Thank You - Led Zepplin. I can see it.
