1. Would you say that you're good at keeping in touch with people?
Not especially, no. I still owe thank-you notes for baby presents given to me eight months ago. I owe nearly everyone phone calls or email. That said, I'm still better at it than most of my friends are.

2. Which communication method do you usually prefer/use: e-mail, telephone, snail mail, blog comments, or meeting in person? Why?
Depends on the person. With my parents, I wish we could use semaphore or smoke signals instead of having to talk on the phone all the time. With almost nobody do I use snail mail.

3. Do you have an instant messenger program? How many? Why/why not? How often do you use it?
I used to have MSN because it was easy and was the only way to talk to Jodi during the day. Now I have none-- I switch between computers and platforms too many times a day.

4. Do most of your close friends live nearby or far away?
Hm. A good chunk of them are in the greater New York area, but I'd have to say most of the super-close ones live elsewhere. My best friend of course lives here in the house with me.

5. Are you an "out of sight, out of mind" person, or do you believe that "distance makes the heart grow fonder"?
A little of both. Given how flaky I am at trying to communicate with some people, a lot of my friendships tend to drift -- but when I see an old friend again, there's almost always that well of affection and renewed spark.

It's 3pm. Do you know where your kitchen contractors are?

Mine were supposed to be here at 9 am. Then 1 pm. Then 2:30 pm...
