Friday Five

1. What are your favorite ways to relax and unwind?
A long, luxurient hot bath or shower. Cooking with friends. Oh, here's a shock -- MUSHing.

2. What do you do the moment you get home from work/school/errands?
Erm, I don't. Used to be I'd strip and go lounge. In high school it involved kicking off my shoes, dimming the lights, and dancing around the music on the stereo til my parents got home.

3. What are your favorite aroma-therapeutic smells?
Anything spicy. I love the scent of constant comment tea.

4. Do you feel more relaxed with a group of friends or hanging out by yourself?
Relaxed? I guess that would be alone or with husband. On the other hand, i can be very comfortable in a crowd if it's the right crowd. A sure sign that I'm happy with a group of friends is that I'll nod off. Social napping my friend David calls it. Yes, I'm the life of the party, I know.

5. What is something that you feel is relaxing but most people don't?
Will you all think I'm a freak if I say a good cry? I like to have on about once a week, either about a tv show or a book or something. It gets my inner angst out so I can focus on having fun.

I have to agree with you on (5) -- I love a good cry (even when I know I'm being horribly manipulated). It's wonderful, it's cathartic, and since it's usually about something not directly affecting me, I can deal with it and move on.

And, by the way, after reading (4) I feel honored : ).

Catharsis is a very good word for it. Heh. And hey, I'll have a good cry and a nap with you any day!

That sounded a lot racier than intended.

No racier than the two nursing moms in bed. ; )

i can understand this. it's what i normally use e.r. for. :)

Sounds about right :) There are times in my life I was so sappy I could just use telephone commercials...

E.R. is definitely in that category for me (like the slow, painful death of the Greene character last season). I guess I just like the maudlin... is that unhealthy ? : )

the episode in which Dr. Greene died had me sobbing. it was great. (okay, so i actually *was* upset that they were getting rid of him, but the similarity of my bad relationship with my dad also touched a nerve.) i love watching that show in bed whilst hugging the pillow and weeping.

I guess I just like the maudlin... is that unhealthy ? : )

hmmm...you're talking to a Morrissey fan, so i don't think i'm the best authority to ask... ;)

Oog... I think I was just choked up for most of the episode, but started openly sobbing after "Daddy, I remember the lullaby." I loved that rendition of "Somewhere Over the Rainbow," and found a copy of it with "What a Wonderful World" by the same artist (Israel K--- long Hawai'ian name I just am too sleepy to remember right now : ) ).

Morrissey? I will send you a box of tissues for your birthday : ). [livejournal.com profile] creidylad, introduce us!

You guys just met :) I wish I could introduce you! Alas, redjanet deserted our fair metropolis and fled to a new continent all for that silly dream called love.

I stopped watching ER after Susan left for the first time, years and years and years ago. Of course, I usually manage to work up a hearty sniffle at my online RPG life. If that doesn't work, one can always turn to a recording of Johnny Mathis singing, "With Yellow Roses on her Gown." If ALL else fails, I do not recommend you try this at home, there is Harry Chapin's, "The Shortest Story Ever Told," but I do not recommend it. I am personally not that masochistic.

The song is 100x worse with motherhood (20 days today... mamma does not hold me, anymore...). Ok, no more of that!
