Can the FDIC really cover everyone if all the banks fail?

Why has nobody made a clear and succinct statement about how credit keeps Main St. functioning? It does, but nobody understands why.

Suze Ormand says the market may not recover until 2015.

She sensibly notes that the government should stop calling it a 'bailout plan' and call it an 'investment plan'.

Is it true they won't try to get a new version passed for 2 days due to the Jewish holidays? That's crazy talk.

If your congresspeople voted against this bill, please call them and scream at them.

Wish List

I wish that James Carville would sneak into Barak Obama's bedroom in the wee hours and wake him up by jumping up on his bed screaming, "IT'S THE ECONOMY, STUPID!"

Then Obama would realize that if he had a handgun he could defend himself and suddenly start appealing to the NRA groups out there.*

I wish the democratic party would issue daily talking point snark to to the news media. "Confused" should be attached to Sarah Palin's name**, if we are going with polite terms, and "Biggest flip-flopper in history" to McCain's.

Then we need a time machine to go back and have Obama be totally generous and conciliatory about the Michigan and Florida delegations. THIS ISSUE WAS BIGGER THAN YOU, MR. OBAMA, AND YOU DIDN'T GET IT.

It is not stating a candidate preference for to say that Hillary was right that there was no reason she should have just decided to home with her tail between her legs because the cool kids told her to. That is what our primary process is FOR, and why it's not over until the Convention. If you don't want that to be legally true, then the party should ditch the super delegates.

* I am pro-smart gun control (which is not what we have for the most part), but I realize my party needs to throw this issue out of bed, because voters are totally irrational and we get hammered on this one.

** She seems to think Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac are being funded by the taxpayers? WTF?

My head spins as I try to encompass all the ins and outs of this FISA nonsense.

Ultimately what I do not get is:

How on earth is it remotely legal for congress to vote retroactive immunity to the Constitution?

Isn't that a call purely for the courts, short of congress amending the constitution?

So here it is, neatly spelled out, and better than I could have ever put it --

Goodbye to All That, Part 2 by Robin Morgan.

This sums up much better than I ever could why so much of the media coverage of Hillary Clinton makes me sick to my stomach, so much so that it's hard for me to separate my protective feelings towards her as a human being from my views of her as a candidate, though I find the more I delve and the more I look at the numbers, the more that falls away.

I hear a lot of you talking about Obama and how excited you are about his presence, his leadership, his vision.

I am almost certainly voting for Hillary Clinton because I feel the Barak Obama healthcare plan does not go far enough; it will leave way too many Americans uninsured. I think he will spend a lot of time pandering to the right and will not stand his ground sufficiently against the republicans. (I may vote for someone on the ballot who is neither Obama or Hillary Clinton, but I'm not sure.) Still, I like Clinton's ferocious and unapologetic intelligence a great deal, and that she doesn't pander.

I won't be crushed if Obama wins. So long as he changes his health care plan. Frankly, I'd be happier if either of them would talk seriously about addressing poverty on a wide scale.

But here is my question, meant to get real responses, not to poke at anyone...

What is it in Obama's conrete vision of America that inspires you? I mean beyond the feel-good language -- what specific things are you for, that Hillary Clinton doesn't have? What makes you feel he actually has the experience or wherewithal to carry through on his promises to restore American prestige?

I could still be persuaded to change my mind.
